Seminole County Grand Jury Indicts Orlando Man

For the 2011 Deaths of Two Brevard County Men

The Seminole County Grand Jury issued an indictment today (Jan. 17) charging Gennadiy Burkatovsky with two counts of first-degree premeditated murder in connection with the August discovery of the bodies of two men in a wooded Volusia County area.

Burkatovsky, who is 36 and lived in Orlando, had previously been arrested in October as an accessory after the fact of the deaths of the two Brevard County men who were eventually identified as Danny R. Edwards, 49, and Michael L. Schaffer, 47, both from the north Brevard County area. Also arrested as an accessory in October was Eugene Kruglove, 24, Sanford.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office investigation in cooperation with Edgewater Police showed that the two men were attempting to obtain new identities and to flee this country. The victims were killed outdoors in Longwood at 107 Shore Drive and then their bodies were transported to Volusia County.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from two witnesses: a Seminole County Sheriff’s Department investigator and a lay witness.
