August 22, 2014 State Attorney’s Office Concludes Review of Seminole County School District Investigation into Campaign Activity

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Aug. 22, 2014

State Attorney Phil Archer concluded his office’s review of a school district investigation of personnel activities during a one-cent-sales tax campaign earlier this year and believes that any further complaints should be directed to the Florida Elections Commission for their evaluation.

“The Elections Commission has the experienced investigators and the expertise for these types of cases and is the appropriate investigative agency,” he said, adding that the activities do not appear to violate any criminal statutes but may violate provisions that provide for civil penalties that can be imposed by the Commission.

Archer commended the school district for recognizing the seriousness of the issue and taking appropriate disciplinary action including mandatory training for employees.
