April 11, 2016 “Fight Back” with State Attorney Phil Archer and Sheriff Wayne Ivey As They Share Information on Types of Crime on the Rise in Brevard

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 11, 2016

Brevard’s crime fighting duo, State Attorney Phil Archer and Sheriff Wayne Ivey, will speak Tuesday from 2 until 4 p.m. about the types of crime prevalent now in our community and what people can do to keep themselves safe and avoid becoming a crime victim.

The program, sponsored by the Brevard County TRIAD, will be held at the Calvary Chapel, Viera Campus, 2852 Fellowship Place in Viera. TRIAD is a partnership organization whose job is to identify and develop programs to help answer the needs and concerns of senior citizens in Brevard County. The three separate arms of the group are local law enforcement, the Brevard Sheriff’s Office, and the State Attorney’s Office.

Tuesday’s program will highlight the latest trends law enforcement officials are seeing in fraud, identity theft, and scams. These areas are especially important for preventive stances since, once moneys are lost, many times they are unable to be recovered.

While TRIAD works to address specific issues for the county’s senior population like personal safety, health concerns, transportation needs, and others, Tuesday’s program is open to all participants. A number of the local policing agencies will also be on hand with materials and “take homes” to share. Senior issues are becoming increasingly important as our senior population nearly doubles over the next 30 years, organizers have said.

There is no charge for the program and attendees have an opportunity to participate in a drawing for a Cross-cut Shredder.
