Brevard County Grand Jury Issues First-degree

Premeditated Murder Indictment in Melbourne Homicide

 

The Brevard County Grand Jury issued a first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm indictment today against Eric Brian, 56, formerly of 1526 Hendren Drive, Melbourne, in connection with the Oct. 29 death of Maribel Matos-Brian, his 49-year-old wife.

Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt, who presented the case to the grand jurors, said they heard testimony from the Associate Brevard County Medical Examiner, a Melbourne Police crime scene investigator and a detective, and a lay witness.

Eric Brian was arrested by Melbourne Police on Nov. 2 while undergoing treatment at Holmes Regional Medical Center and has since been transferred to the Brevard County Jail where he remains held without bond. He is scheduled for a first appearance on the indicted charge tomorrow at the jail courtroom.
