June 11, 2007 Seminole County Grand Jury Indicts Three in Two Separate Murder Cases

The Seminole County Grand Jury returned a first-degree premeditated murder indictment Tuesday against an Apopka man, David Byron Russ, 45, in connection with the May 8 murder of Madeleine Leinen, 58, of Longwood.

Russ was also indicted on charges of kidnapping with a weapon, carjacking with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon, and burglary of a dwelling with an assault or battery. The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Seminole County Sheriff's Office Investigator before returning the indictments, according to Assistant State Attorney James Carter who presented the case.

Russ is currently being held without bond in a Texas jail and is expected to be returned to Seminole County in the near future, said Carter. In the second case, two Orlando men, Jasford Joel Foster, 29, and Kamal Antonio Sylvester, 24, were both indicted on counts of first-degree felony murder and kidnapping in connection with the April 23 death of Ricky Lorie, 26. Both men are being held without bail at the Seminole County Jail.

Carter presented testimony to the Grand Jury from two lay witnesses and a Sanford Police Department Investigator before the jury deliberated and returned the indictments.
