State Attorney Phil Archer Names

Top Victim Advocates, Law Enforcement, Attorney

During “Victims’ Rights Week” Recognition

State Attorney Phil Archer celebrated National Crime Victims’ Rights Week Monday morning with a breakfast in Cocoa Beach honoring all of the people in the criminal justice system who work to assist crime victims.

Assistant State Attorney and Intake Division Chief Michael Hunt was recognized at the Attorney of Year, and Archer told of Hunt’s dedication to victims, justice, and high standards that the prosecutor has upheld in his more than three decades of service in Brevard.

Brevard County Property Appraiser Dana Blickley received the Outstanding Service Award for her volunteer efforts on behalf of Brevard County's veterans and Indian Harbor Beach’s Detective Corp. Lisa German was the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Archer talked of German’s excellent police work combined with compassionate intervention for elderly residents of the beachside city.

The Kathy L. King Victim's Advocate for 2017 at the State Attorney’s Office was Advocate Jenny Lloyd. Lloyd, true to style, was not present because she was in court with the survivors of a homicide. Rhonda Shoup, sexual assault advocate with the Women's Center, was selected as the community recipient of the Kathy L. King Victim Advocate of the Year.

And, Agent Joe Martin, Brevard County Sheriff's Office, was selected as the recipient of the Senator Howard Futch Memorial Leadership Award. Archer told the gathering that Martin does one of the most important things for crime victims, solving their cases, but he goes miles further in his volunteer work with the Women’s Center and Serene Harbor. While active in both fund-raising and education, Martin also serves on the board of directors and chairs various committees, all with a goal of reducing domestic violence in Brevard County.

Winners are:   Rhonda Shoup, Women’s Center; Dana Blickley, Brevard Property Appraiser; BCSO Agent Joe Martin; Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt; Indian Harbor Beach Detective Corp. Lisa German.
