Brevard County Grand Jury Issues Indictment
In Rockledge Murder and Shooting Case
The Brevard County Grand Jury issued an indictment today (December 19) charging ROBERT
LORENZO BAILEY, JR. 28 with one (1) count of first degree murder for the shooting death of
Roger Smith (49), after a November 24th incident at Schlenker Automotive in Rockledge.
BAILEY was also indicted on two (2) counts of attempted first degree murder for shooting and
wounding David Cordero (25) and firing at Donald Smith (46), who ultimately shot BAILEY
ending his attack. BAILEY was also indicted for aggravated assault with a semiautomatic
firearm by threatening to shoot Nathan Taylor (31).
All of the victims were employees of Schlenker Automotive at the time of the incident.
The grand jury heard testimony from a Rockledge Investigator, BCSO Crime Scene Investigator
and two lay witnesses before returning with the indictment. No trial date has been set and
BAILEY’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 20th, 2017 9:00 AM at the Brevard
County jail.
BAILEY remains in custody on NO BOND.
