September 3, 2007 Brevard Grand Jury Issues First-Degree Murder Indictment Against Sheldon Woodrow Gayle

The Brevard County Grand Jury issued a first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm indictment today (Tuesday, August 28) against Sheldon Woodrow Gayle for the August 8 murder of Troy Harden.

The jury additionally charged Gayle with unauthorized possession or use of a driver's license and resisting an officer without violence, said Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt.

Gayle, 24, formerly of Cocoa, remains in the Brevard County Jail where he has been held without bond since his arrest August 8. He has been scheduled for a first appearance on the new charges Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. at the jail.

The jury heard testimony from two Melbourne police officers and a lay witness. Harden was shot and killed during the early morning hours outside the home of an acquaintance in Melbourne.
