April 3, 2019 Brevard Grand Jury Issues Indictments In Palm Bay Drug Related Murder

Today (Apr 3) the Brevard County Grand Jury indicted Frederick Charles SWITZER (48) of Stuart, and Robert Anthony WILLIAMS (28) of Hobe Sound, for one count (1) of First Degree Felony Murder (CF) and one count (1) of Armed Burglary (LF) in connection with the death of Salvatore Calarri (28), on January 10, 2019 at 725 Furth Road NW, Palm Bay.

On January 10, 2019 at approximately 1:38 pm, Kristen Brodie returned home to find her live-in boyfriend Calarri, dead on the floor of the kitchen. She called 911 and Palm Bay Police began a months long investigation that established Calarri had been shot to death during a drug related burglary to the home. Investigators identified SWITZER and WILLIAMS as suspects and matched DNA from SWITZER to blood found at the scene near Callari's body. Forensic evidence tied both men to the crime, along with a written plan for the burglary.

Before returning with the indictments, the Grand Jury heard testimony from a Palm Bay Criminal Investigator and Crime Scene Technician, along with the Brevard County Medical Examiner, and a lay witness.

Palm Bay Police obtained arrest warrants for both men in March 2019. SWITZER is in custody at the Brevard County Jail with no bond. WILLIAMS is in custody at the Okeechobee County Jail on unrelated drug charges, with a no bond hold for the Brevard warrant. No trial dates have been set.

The warrant service and WILLIAMS transfer to Brevard County will take place on a future undetermined date. Inmate transfer details are not published due to security concerns.
