April 3, 2019 Stefanie DOBSON Facing First Degree Murder Charge after Grand Jury Indictment

Today (Apr 3) the Brevard County Grand Jury indicted Stefanie DOBSON (39), for First Degree Premeditated Murder (CF) in connection with the killing of her mother Susan Dobson (59), at the Harvard Condominiums in Melbourne on January 13, 2018.

DOBSON had been arrested for 2nd Degree Murder on January 18, 2018, five days after she provided investigators with inconsistent statements about the discovery of her mother's body and forensic evidence that ultimately linked her to the crime scene. Police discovered that Susan Dobson had been brutally bludgeoned to death with a blunt object.

In the months following her arrest, Melbourne Police investigators worked closely with prosecutors to develop additional evidence of DOBSON's involvement, the cruel brutal nature of the killing, and premeditation leading to the murder. Those findings led prosecutors to seek an indictment for First Degree Murder, changing the maximum possible sentence from a life felony to a capitol felony.

Before returning with the indictment, the Grand Jury heard testimony from Melbourne Police Investigator, Crime Scene Technician, the Brevard Medical Examiner and a lay witness. DOBSON remains in custody at the Brevard County Jail on No Bond. No trial date has been set.
