December 4, 2019 - SCAM ALERT! Impostors Posing as State Attorney Employees

Today we learned of a telephone scam where persons posing as employees of the State Attorney, called local residents telling them they are facing prosecution for fraud. However, if they submit a fine in the amount of $250, the cases would be dropped. If they refuse, a warrant would be issued for their arrest. While this type of Impostor Scam is common, be assured the Office of the State Attorney will NEVER call you in an attempt to collect a fine, threaten to issue a warrant, or offer to resolve a criminal complaint. If you receive this type of call HANG UP! Then call your local law enforcement agency and report the crime.
