December 18, 2020 - Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Omar MATIAS in Winter Springs Arson and Murder

Today (Dec 18), the Seminole County Grand Jury indicted Omar Antonio MATIAS (24), for First Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), for the death of Lincoln Marks (55). They also indicted him for Arson of an Occupied Dwelling (F1), Burglary of a Dwelling with Assault or Battery (F1 PBL), Possession of a Fire Bomb (F3), Felony Criminal Mischief (F3), and Arson Resulting in Bodily Harm (F3) stemming from the same incident.
 
On June 13, 2020, at 1237 Andes Drive, Winter Springs, Seminole County Sheriff's Deputies were called to investigate an arson of a residence where three persons had been inside asleep. Two victims escaped the home, while a third Lincoln Marks, sustained significant burns and later died as a result of his injuries. Both physical evidence and witness testimony tied MAITAS to the crimes. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was captured in Orange County on June 18, 2020.
 
The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Seminole County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigator prior to returning with the indictment.
 
MATIAS will remain in the Seminole County Jail on no bond. No trial date has been set.
