January 20, 2021 - Brevard Grand Jury Indicts Willie STEWART and Kevin DOSWELL for Murder

On Tuesday (Jan 19), the Brevard County Grand Jury issued murder indictments for two defendants in two separate incidents.

Willie STEWART (62) was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder w/Firearm (CF), and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon (F2). STEWART had been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Tyler Chapple Jr. (29) in the 600 block of Georgia Avenue, Rockledge on February 7, 2020.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a BCSO crime scene investigator and a Rockledge Police Investigator before returning with the indictment.

In a second case, Kevin DOSWELL (40), was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), Grand Theft Motor Vehicle (F3), Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer (F3), and Resisting Without Violence (M1). DOSWELL had been arrested in connection to the stabbing death of Michael Sumner Jr (43), whose body was found in a room the two shared at the River Palm Hotel, Melbourne on March 7, 2020.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from The Brevard Medical Examiner, Melbourne Police crime scene investigator and detective before returning with the indictment.

STEWART and DOSWELL are being held on No Bond at the Brevard County Jail and no trial date has been set in either case. Please consult the Brevard Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
