June 8, 2021 -Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Akeefe GARRETT in Drug Delivery Murder

Today, (June 8) the Seminole County Grand Jury indicted Akeefe Lavone GARRETT (28), for First Degree Murder by Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF), in connection to the drug overdose death of Nicholas Huska (35).

Huska was found deceased in the bathroom of his home in unincorporated Longwood on the morning of November 9, 2020, by his father and girlfriend. The Seminole County Medical Examiner ruled the death was the result of an overdose of the drug fentanyl.

A subsequent investigation by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office established that Huska had met with and received fentanyl from GARRETT just hours before his death. Investigators  obtained an arrest warrant for GARRETT who was taken into custody on June 04, 2021, and held on No Bond at the Seminole County Jail.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a SCSO Drug Agent before returning with the indictment.
