July 14, 2021 - Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Three for First-Degree Murder

Yesterday (July 13), the Seminole County Grand Jury indicted Carlos TAVAREZ (29), First-Degree Felony Murder-Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF); Leekhan BRYAN (40), First-Degree Felony Murder (CF); and Toivontae WILLIAMS (27) First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF) in separate incidents.

TAVAREZ was identified by Altamonte Springs Police as the person who provided Fentanyl that resulted in the overdose death of Stephanie Martinez Canizales (30), on January 3, 2021, at 639 Crimson Ct. Also facing charges of Manslaughter in her death are Noel RIVERA ROSADO (23), and Jean DE LA ROSA (32).

BRYAN was identified by Longwood Police as the person who had beaten and strangled to death Trevor Morrison (62), at his home at 315 Heather Avenue, then used the victim’s car to drive the body to Brevard County placing it into the Banana River. BRYAN was apprehended in Osceola County still driving the victim’s car. BRYAN was also indicted for Kidnapping – Reclassified (F1 PBL); Armed Burglary of a Dwelling with Assault or Battery (F1 PBL); Aggravated Battery (F2); Grand Theft Motor Vehicle (F3); Grand Theft $750 to $5000 (F3); and Tampering with Evidence (F3).

WILLIAMS was identified by Lake Mary Police as the person who intentionally struck and killed Katrina Redden (39) with a stolen motor vehicle on May 24, 2021, near the intersection of N. Country Club Road and East Lake Mary Avenue. WILLIAMS was also indicted for Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon (F2); Car Jacking with a Deadly Weapon (F1 PBL); and Possession of MDMA (F3).

The Grand Jury heard testimony from Investigators with the Altamonte Springs, Longwood, and Lake Mary Police Departments, before returning the indictments.

TAVAREZ, BRYAN, and WILLIAMS are being held on No Bond at the Seminole County Jail. No trial dates have been set in any of these cases. Please consult the Seminole Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
