July 30, 2021 - Jury Selection Begins in Asgeirr ULFR First-Degree Murder Trial

On Monday (Aug 2), jury selection is scheduled to begin in the First-Degree Felony Murder (CF) trial of Asgeirr ULFR (29) who was charged in the 2018 death of Christina Scarr (20). The State is seeking the death penalty. ULFR is also being tried on one (1) count of Burglary of a Dwelling with Battery (F1 PBL), and one (1) count of Kidnapping (F1 PBL). Judge Melanie Chase will preside.

On April 6, 2018, Seminole County deputies were called to 1212 Gina Ct. Apopka, FL after ULFR reported a home invasion in which he had sustained a gunshot wound to the foot. Investigators identified surveillance video and other evidence that disproved ULFR's version of the incident and implicated him in the murder. ULFR was arrested on April 7, 2018, and then indicted by the Seminole County Grand Jury on April 16, 2018. The State filed a notice to seek the death penalty on May 10, 2018. ULFR has remained in custody with No Bond since his arrest.

Do to COVID-19 social distancing mandates in effect at the Seminole County Criminal Justice Center, a pool camera will be required for the duration of what is tentatively scheduled to be a two (2) week trial. Media representatives should contact Court Administration for further information.
