The Seminole County Grand Jury has indicted JHAMIEL J. JOSEPH and TAVARIOUS C. JILES for the shooting death of 18-year-old Isaiah Perez at the Mystic Cove Apartments near Oviedo in November 2023.

JOSEPH, 20, and JILES, 21, are now charged with first-degree felony murder and attempted robbery with a firearm.

A third suspect in the case, SHANIAH O’NEAL, 22, was charged separately by the State Attorney’s Office and has plead guilty to charges of accessory after the fact to a capital felony and conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm.

Sheriff’s investigators believe the suspects parked at a site off the apartment complex grounds and walked onto the property where the victim, Perez, lived with his mother. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots shortly before midnight on Nov. 30, 2023, but didn’t see anything. Isaiah Perez’s mother, Yenifer Perez, ran outside after hearing the shots and found her son dying from multiple gunshot wounds.

Sheriff’s deputies found Isaiah Perez’s car parked with the engine running, the driver’s-side rear door open, and the headlights on.

JOSEPH and JILES have been held without bond at the Seminole County jail. Arraignment hearings are scheduled for April.
