Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Laurie ADAMS for First-Degree Murder

Today (July 16), the Seminole County Grand Jury indicted Laurie ADAMS (38), on one (1) count of First-Degree Premeditated Murder with a Firearm (CF), in connection to the shooting death of Adel Tawfeek (51), in Winter Springs.

On June 5, 2023, Winter Springs Police responded to a 911 report of a male shot at a residence on Sheoah Blvd. There they discovered Adel Tawfeek unconscious and suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. Tawfeek was transported to the hospital where he later died. Also in the home was ADAMS who told officers she shot Tawfeek after an argument over the care of the couple’s son. ADAMS was arrested and held at the Seminole County Jail with no bond.

The Seminole County Medical Examiner later ruled Tawfeek’s death a homicide, the result of a single gunshot wound.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Winters Springs Police Investigator before returning with the indictment.

No trial date has been set in this case. Please consult the Seminole Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by this defendant.
