The Brevard County Grand Jury

Issues Indictment in 2008 Murder Case

A Brevard County Grand Jury issued an indictment today (March 15, 2011) charging Sharon Myers, formerly known as Sharon Kenney, with first-degree premeditated murder in the 2008 shooting death of her husband, Gary Kenney.

Myers, 47, 2069 Tulagee Ave., Melbourne, was also indicted on one charge of armed burglary of a dwelling. Her son, Darryl Kenney, and an accomplice, Rubin Nero, were initially charged with the murder. Both were convicted in jury trials late last year and both have been sentenced to life in prison. Darryl Kenney is the biological child of Myers and Gary Kenney.

Myers was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Brevard County Sheriff’s Agents Rob Vitaliano and Jonathon Kent outside the Space Coast Credit Union where she worked in Merritt Island. She is scheduled for a first appearance on the charge tomorrow afternoon at the Brevard County Jail.

Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt said Myers was indicted because she was a principal to the murder. She has since remarried. A Brevard County Sheriff’s agent and a crime scene investigator, testified before the jury.
