June 29, 2022 - Grand Jury Indicts Alteric JOHNSON for First-Degree Premeditated Murder

Yesterday (June 28), the Brevard Grand Jury Indicted Alteric JOHNSON (22), for First Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), in connection to the death of his girlfriend Ty'Kara Madden (21). The State will have 45 days to decide if they will seek the death penalty for JOHNSON.

On June 02, 2022, at 11:10 pm, Titusville Police responded to a 9-11 call saying a male was attempting to shoot a female at 303 Willow Street. Upon arrival officers learned JOHNSON armed with a rifle, chased Madden to the entrance of a neighboring home at 305 Willow, where JOHNSON shot her once in the head. Madden was transported to a local hospital before dying of her injuries.

Officers disarmed JOHNSON and arrested him at the scene, later charging him with Madden's murder. A subsequent investigation revealed that the incident began as a domestic argument at the JOHNSON'S home, with JOHNSON almost severing Madden's right hand before she fled seeking help from a neighbor.  The Brevard County Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from the Associate Brevard Medical Examiner, a Titusville Police detective and crime scene investigator before returning with the indictment.
