December 13, 2022 - Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Two Men for Drug Delivery Murders

Today (Dec 13), the Seminole County Grand Jury issued murder indictments for two defendants in separate drug delivery death incidents.

Davon DENNARD (29), was indicted for First-Degree Murder by Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF); Sale or Delivery of Fentanyl (F2); Sale or Delivery of Cocaine (F2); Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Sell (F2); and Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell (F2); in connection to the death of Ricardo Rivera Tosado (45).

On August 7, 2022, Seminole County Deputies responded to Fernwood Blvd. in Fern Park where Rivera Tosado was found by his daughter deceased in the cab of his truck. A subsequent investigation established that Rivera Tosado died from fentanyl toxicity and that DENNARD had provided the fentanyl that killed him.

Cardona DE LA TORRE (23), was indicted for First-Degree Murder by Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF); Trafficking in Fentanyl (F1); Sale or Delivery of Fentanyl (F2); and Possession of Methamphetamine (F3); in connection to the drug overdose death of Juan Rivera Pena (27).

On October 3, 2022, Sanford Police Officers responded to the 7-11 on Ronald Reagan Blvd where staff had found Rivera Pena deceased in the restroom. A subsequent investigation established that Rivera Pena died from fentanyl toxicity and that DE LA TORRE had provided the fentanyl that killed him.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from Seminole County and Sanford Investigators, along with the Medical Examiner before returning with the indictments.

Both defendants are in custody at the Seminole County Jail on No Bond. No trial date has been set in these cases. Please consult the Seminole Clerk of Courts website for updates on future court appearances by these defendants.
