FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Oct. 23, 2012

Brevard County Grand Jury Indicts

Merritt Island Man on First-Degree Murder Charge

The Brevard County Grand Jury returned a first-degree premeditated murder indictment against 19-year-old Devonte Ahmad Bradley for the Sept. 24 shooting death of Evander Tinsley, 21.

Deputies were called to the Tropical Manor Apartments on Jordon Road in Merritt Island by residents who reported hearing gunfire. There, they discovered Tinsley, who was taken to a hospital but later died.

Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt, who presented the case to the Grand Jury, said jurors heard testimony from a Brevard County Sheriff’s Office crime scene investigator and an agent, and five lay witnesses. Hunt said that the Jury also issued charges against Bradley for armed burglary of a dwelling with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a delinquent.

Bradley was arrested Sept. 27 and remains in the Brevard County jail without bail.
