State Attorney Norm Wolfinger names Top Cop, Advocates, Attorney, During Victims' Rights Week
State Attorney Norm Wolfinger named Brevard Sheriff’s Homicide Agent Joe Martin as the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year at the 2011 National Crime Victims’ Rights Award Luncheon. Martin was praised for his efforts not only on current cases, but his proactive approach to community safety and his efforts in preventing the loss of life.
The theme for the week was "Reshaping the Future, Honoring the Past" and was reinforced by luncheon speaker, Jennifer Dritt, Executive Director of the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence. Crime victims and the top professionals who support and work directly with them were recognized by Wolfinger in his Brevard and Seminole offices at separate luncheons in both counties.
The Attorney of the Year Award went to Assistant State Attorney Mike Doyle who Wolfinger praised for working closely with victims and incorporating their wishes in his efforts. The Victim Advocate Award from an external agency went to Dana Packard, Palm Bay Police Department’s Victim’s Services Supervisor, and the Victim Advocate from the State Attorney’s Office was Meredith Peacock.
Two individuals who work behind the scenes in support services were honored with Outstanding Service Awards. They are Brenda Quinn, grants administrator for the State Attorney’s Office, and Pam Meloy from the South Brevard Women’s Center.
