DNA Results in Andrew Lingard Case

The State Attorney's Office has received results of DNA testing in the Andrew Lingard sexual battery case. The lab results which are now a public record and have been provided to the defendant's attorney are attached. Testing showed Lingard's DNA on a previously untested pair of the victim's underwear.

Assistant State Attorney Pat Whitaker said that it will now be up to the defendant and his attorney to decide if they wish to pursue additional testing or if they wish to file motions with the court.

"Should it become necessary, we look forward to presenting the result of this DNA testing and presenting our position to the Court that the original mislabeling of evidence did not result in any prejudice to the defendant," said Whitaker.
