Operation Cease-Fire Response Team Walks Cocoa Neighborhood
An Operation Cease-Fire Response Team composed of investigators and attorneys from the State Attorney's Office and detectives and officers from the Cocoa Police Department will be walking the Cocoa neighborhoods where recent gun crimes have resulted in a homicide and injuries to area residents.
The Team will meet at 3:30 p.m. at the Zion Orthodox Primitive Baptist Church at 715 S. Fiske Boulevard. Assistant State Attorney Phil Archer said the teams will be covering three areas in the city: the 200 block of Prospect Avenue where Miguel Bello died on Saturday; the 500 block of South Carolina Avenue and the 400 block of E Street where several shootings occurred later that same night and a woman inside her home sitting in a chair was shot in the foot. The teams will be handing out flyers on the shootings, information on Crimeline rewards, and Rap Against Violence CD's.
Operation Cease-Fire is State Attorney Norm Wolfinger's crime prevention program designed to speed the prosecution of violent gun-wielding offenders and to take illegal weapons out of their hands and out of the community. It is a partnership with the U. S. Attorney Paul Perez under the federal Project Safe Neighborhoods Act.
