February 7, 2012 Seminole County Grand Jury Returns Murder Indictment in 1991 Case

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Feb. 7, 2012

Seminole County Grand Jury Returns

Murder Indictment in 1991 Case

The Seminole County Grand Jury returned a first-degree premeditated murder indictment today (Tuesday, February 07, 2012) against David Lee Hedrick, 50, Apopka, for the 1991 murder of Betty Claire Foster.

Foster, 50, had been working as a receptionist at a Casselberry computer store when a customer discovered her slain on the floor of the store on Jan. 31, 1991.

Hedrick was arrested by Seminole deputies in January when a DNA data base matched submissions he provided with evidence recovered over 20 years ago at the murder crime scene. Hedrick was required to provide the DNA samples after a 2011 conviction for grand theft of state funds. He remains in the Seminole County jail without bond.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from two witnesses, a Seminole County
Sheriff’s Office Investigator and a Crime Scene Technician, before returning the charge.
