Brevard Grand Jury Issues Murder Indictments In Two Separate Cases
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – May 8, 2012
The Brevard County Grand Jury considered two murder cases today (Tuesday, May 8, 2012) and returned the following indictments.
Robert Peek, 47, who is currently held in the Brevard County Jail on other charges, was indicted on a First-degree Premeditated Murder charge in connection with the July 14, 1988 death of Ramona Moore. Peek was also indicted on two counts of sexual battery by use of great force. Moore’s body was discovered in 1988 at a road construction site at the northern section of Washingtonia Drive in north Melbourne.
A 2011 DNA match to evidence recovered at that scene lead Brevard Sheriff’s Agents to Peek, said Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt. The Grand Jury heard testimony in the Peek case from the Brevard County Medical Examiner and the lead Brevard County homicide agent.
Richard Woodsmall, 60, 1604 Orange Manor Dr., Melbourne, was indicted on one count of First-degree Premeditated Murder after an April 7 barroom fight lead to the death of Larry Creech. The Jury also returned an aggravated battery charge in that case.
Woodsmall was arrested at the scene at the Backstreet Bar and Grill in Melbourne and remains in the Brevard County Jail. A Melbourne Police detective and three lay witnesses testified in Woodsmall’s case, Hunt said.
Both defendants remain in the Brevard County jail held without bond but will formally receive the charges tomorrow during first appearances at the jail; however, media interested in covering should check with jail officials first.
