October 29, 2012 Assistant State Attorney Andrew Pickett Selected to Serve on Florida Bar's Board of Governors.

Viera, FL--Andrew Pickett, an assistant state attorney in the 18th Judicial Circuit, was recently selected and sworn in to serve a two-year term on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors for this district.

Pickett was elected to the post by his fellow young attorneys-at-law in Brevard and Seminole counties. He will be one of two representatives serving a two-year term on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors for the 18thJudicial Circuit.

“I am excited about the opportunity to continue to serve the 18th Circuit on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors and represent the interests of our young lawyers to the Florida Bar, “Pickett said.

The 60-member Board of Governors is the governing body of the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division and has over 21,000 members. The mission of the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors is to act as an advocate and resource for its affiliates and members – all young lawyers or newly admitted members to The Florida Bar.

Additionally, Andrew serves as the President of the Brevard County Bar Association Young Lawyers Division, is a member of the Vassar B. Carlton American Inn of Court, a board member for the Friends of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Brevard and the Space Coast Tiger Bay Club, and a graduate of Leadership Brevard Class of 2012 and the Central Florida Political Leadership Institute.

Andrew has been a prosecutor in State Attorney Norm Wolfinger’s office for the past three years and litigated and tried to verdict over thirty jury trials.

“Andrew Pickett is an inspiration to me, and a source of great comfort. Knowing him, his knowledge, temperament and energy, reassures me that our justice system will prosper and grow in all of the correct ways in the coming years,” said State Attorney Wolfinger.

Andrew is also the 2011 recipient of the Pride in Excellence Attorney of the Year Award for the Brevard County State Attorney’s Office. He also devotes his time to teaching as a part-time instructor at the Law Enforcement Academy at Brevard Community College.He is a graduate of Satellite High School, the University of Virginia, the University of Florida Levin College of Law, and the University of Miami School of Law.
