First-Degree Murder Indictment on Matthew James Sharp

The Brevard County Grand Jury returned a first-degree premeditated murder indictment against a Melbourne man, 22-year old Matthew James Sharp, for killing Leah Yoresh, 35, also of Melbourne. In addition to the murder charge, Sharp was indicted for grand theft motor vehicle and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Ms. Yoresh was discovered deceased at her home at 1433 Albert Dr. on January 11. Melbourne police and the Brevard County Medical Examiner later determined she died on Jan. 9.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from the Medical Examiner, a Melbourne Police detective, a Melbourne Crime Scene technician, and two lay witnesses, said Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt.

Sharp has been held in the Brevard County jail without bond since his arrest on Feb. 8. He is scheduled to go before a judge tomorrow on the charges. Please check with the Brevard County jail for further information.
