Suspects in Cocoa Beach Fawlty Towers Murder

Indicted on Murder, Robbery Charges

The Brevard County Grand Jury issued a first-degree premeditated murder charge against Alexander Jay Dumont, 23, for the June 28 murder of Bryan Omar Guerra Martinez at the Fawlty Towers Motel on the Cocoa Beach Causeway.

Dumont was also charged with robbery with a firearm. Additionally, the grand jury  handed down an indictment against Kyle Patrick Berard, 24, for robbery with a firearm for his part in the scheme.

The 24-year-old Guerra Martinez was shot to death at his motel room shortly after 11 a.m. When police arrived, they found that his cell phones and wallet were missing, said Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt, who presented the case to the grand jury.

The grand jury heard testimony from the Brevard County Medical Examiner, a Cocoa Beach detective, and a Brevard County Sheriff’s Office crime scene investigator before returning the indictments. Dumont and Berard remain in the Brevard County jail where they have been since Cocoa Beach detectives arrested them on July 30.

The pair is scheduled for first appearances on the charges at the Brevard County Jail on Wednesday.
