December 17, 2013 Brevard Grand Jury Indicts Marcus Royal For a Second Homicide

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Dec. 17, 2013

Marcus Royal, the 33-year-old Rockledge man indicted earlier this year for the murder of an elderly Cocoa woman in March, was indicted again today for killing a Rockledge woman two years earlier, said Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt.

The Rockledge woman’s death  was discovered May 3, 2011, and  was at first believed to be from natural causes, Hunt said.

Hull lived at 1442 Floyd Dr. in Rockledge. The murder victim from March 17 of this year, Ethalya Jones, lived at 1311 North Fiske Blvd., in Cocoa.

Royal’s connection to the death of Hull was discovered during the investigation of Jones’ death, Hunt said.

The grand jury heard from the Brevard County Medical Examiner and two Rockledge Police Officers before returning with the indictment, Hunt said. The indictment charges Royal with first-degree felony murder, burglary of a dwelling with an assault or battery, grand theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, and criminal use of personal identification information.

Officers planned to arrest Royal on the new charges tonight at the Brevard County Jail where he is being held without bond on the 2013 murder. He is scheduled to appear for Initial Proceedings at the jail tomorrow.
