January 5, 2016 Brevard County Grand Jury Issues Felony Murder Indictment in Fire

The Brevard County Grand Jury issued a two-count indictment Tuesday (Jan. 5, 2016) charging Isaac Joel Maicus, 35, with the Dec. 3 murder of his 67-year-old father, Stanley, and arson of an occupied dwelling. The younger Maicus was arrested by Cocoa police officers on the day of the fire.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from the Associate Brevard County Medical Examiner, two state Fire Marshall’s Office investigators, and a Cocoa Police Detective before returning with the indictment, said Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt.

Maicus has been held at the Brevard County Jail since his arrest the day of the fire and is scheduled to go before a judge to hear the formal charges tomorrow (Jan. 6) at the Brevard County Jail.
