Brevard Grand Jury Indicts in

Parrish Hospital Murders

The Brevard County Grand Jury returned an indictment Tuesday, Aug. 16, charging David Owens, 29, with two counts of First-degree Premeditated Murder for the July shooting deaths of Carrie Rouzer and Cynthia Zingsheim at Parrish Medical Center. Zingsheim, 92, was a patient and Rouzer, 36, was a hospital-affiliated sitter attending to Zingsheim.

Owens walked into the hospital on July 17 and shot both women shortly after 2 a.m. in the patient’s room. He was arrested by Titusville Police a short time after hospital security officers secured him. Owens remains in the Brevard County Jail where he is being held without bond, said Assistant State Attorney Michael Hunt who presented the case to the grand jury.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from the associate Brevard County Medical Examiner, a Titusville Police Department crime scene investigator, and a Titusville Police Department detective before returning the indictment.
