January 3, 2017 State Attorney Phil Archer Sworn to His Second Four-Year Term Tuesday Morning FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE--January 3, 2017 State Attorney Phil Archer Sworn to His Second Four-Year Term Tuesday Morning   Eighteenth Circuit Court Judge John M. Harris administered the oath of office to Phil Archer this morning as Archer embarks on his second term as the State Attorney for Brevard and Seminole Counties. Surrounded by staffers, Archer repeated the oath, swearing to uphold the principles of integrity and accountability for which the office stands.   "We will continue to advocate for the rights of victims, to vigorously and fairly prosecute criminal cases, and always act to promote the safety and well-being of our community, " Archer said, adding that he was "honored" by Harris administering the oath. Archer said he looked forward to continuing partnerships with civic, business, and community leaders to solve problems through promoting education and collaboration of crime prevention efforts.   Archer pledged to work with and support law enforcement partners as "we fight crime and hold those who victimize others responsible for their actions." He offered his sincere thanks to his staff for their many long hours of work, saying "I see the hours you put in during long days, over holidays, and weekends. I know you are not doing it for me, but for the individuals who have suffered at the hands of the aggressors. I know your motivation, and I am grateful for it."   Archer served as an Assistant State Attorney for 28 years before being elected to the office four years ago. During his tenure as an ASA, he headed up various special prosecution units.
