Seminole World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
Seminole County seniors will find a wealth of information at the Seminole County World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Friday, June 15, at the Casselberry Senior Center, 200 N. Triplet Lake Drive, Casselberry.
The information expo begins at 9 a.m. with a welcome by Seminole State Attorney Norm Wolfinger whose office is coordinating the project, and key partners, Lt. Dennis Lemma, Seminole Sheriff's Office; and Lt. Dennis Stewart, Casselberry Police. They are joined by a number of other state, federal, and county representatives as well as several area police agencies in the quest to help seniors remain safe, healthy, informed, and active.
Informal workshops will include the following top9ics: Domestic Violence and Our Seniors, Identity Theft, Local Scams, Victim Services, The Seminole County Sheriff's Office E-Lert System, The Duties of the State Attorney's Office Elder Abuse Unit, and Warning Signs of Alzheimer's. In addition, two civil attorneys will be presenting sessions with question and answer periods on Guardianships, Estate Planning, Power of Attorney, and Wills. Representatives from the Attorney General's Office will be on hand to answer questions as well as presenting a session on Identity Theft.
Informational material will be distributed at the event from a number of area service agencies and vendors and handout materials will be available.
One of the highlights of the event will be live performances by the Casselberry Line Dancers and New-Age Linedancers at 11 a.m.
