Brevard County Grand Jury Issues Indictment

In Palm Bay Murder and Shooting Case

                The Brevard County Grand Jury issued an indictment today (May 23) charging DERRICK JAMAL FLOWERS, 31, with two (2) counts of first degree murder for the shooting deaths of Joshua Wadlington (27)and Michael Landon (38)after an April 21st incident that took place in front of a home at 2351 Vernon Drive in Palm Bay. FLOWERS, a convicted felon, was also indicted for attempted first degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after bullets he fired struck and wounded Marlin Haugen (31).

                FLOWERS fled the scene but was later arrested by Polk County deputies. He remains in jail in Polk pending charges there and the charges from the Brevard County murders.           

The grand jury heard testimony from a Palm Bay Detective, the Brevard County Medical Examiner and lay witnesses before returning with the indictment. No trial date has been set and FLOWERS’ initial Brevard County court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
