July 2, 2007 Seminole Grand Jury Issues Two Separate Murder Indictments

The Seminole County Grand Jury issued murder indictments in two separate cases late Tuesday.

In the first case, Jerry Lee Williams, Jr., 24, was indicted on charges of first-degree premeditated murder and sexual battery with great bodily harm for the late February murder of Lisa French, 39, in Sanford.

Assistant State Attorney James Carter presented the case to the grand jury which heard from a Sanford Police Department Investigator, the Medical Examiner, and two lay witnesses. Williams is currently being held in the Osceola County Jail pending a ruling on a separate probation violation. He will eventually be returned to Seminole County.

The grand jury also issued a first-degree premeditated murder charge against Rhonda Sands, 43, for the May 2 murder of her husband, Everette Lema, 50. The grand jury heard testimony from a Seminole County Sheriff's Office Agent and a Crime Scene Technician, and four lay witnesses.

Sands is currently in the Seminole County Jail.
