- Brevard Grand Jury Issues Indictment In Cocoa Murder of Homeless Man
Today (June 26th) the Brevard County Grand Jury indicted TERRANCE SKINNER (40) of 960 Galleon
Street, Cocoa, with one (1) count of First Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), one (1) count of Burglary of a Dwelling
(F2), and one (1) count of Petit Theft (M2) in the death of Robert Severance (66) on May 25th, 2018 in a tent behind
the Cocoa Walmart on Clearlake Road.
Severance had been staying in a tent belonging to another homeless man in an effort to protect that
man's property from being stolen while he was a work. SKINNER is thought to have attacked Severance
causing his death. SKINNER was discovered outside the tent with Severance deceased inside and
arrested. SKINNER was later held at the Brevard County Jail on $126,000 bond on the original charge
of second degree murder, which the Grand Jury increased to First Degree Murder.
The Grand Jury heard testimony from Cocoa Police Criminal and Crime Scene Investigators along with
the Brevard Medical Examiner, and two lay witnesses before returning with the indictment. SKINNER
remains in custody, now on No Bond (previous bond revoked with indictment) and is scheduled* for a
first appearance on Wednesday June 27th, 2018 - 1:30 PM at the Brevard County Jail.
*Defendants may have first appearance waived by the Court without notice.
