August 20, 2018 Florida Attorney General Files Appeal and Stay in Crosley Green Case

Today our office received formal notice that the Florida Attorney General is seeking to appeal and stay the July 20th, 2018 ruling of the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida in the Crosley Green conviction.

The Attorney General has expressed legitimate concern that the Federal Court’s decision is fundamentally different than previous rulings issued by lower courts. In so doing, the Federal Court establishes a new precedent potentially affecting other state and federal cases. Clarification by the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals as to the accuracy of this ruling is being sought as a necessary next step.

Our office will continue to carefully monitor the developments of this appeal and await the decision of the 11th Circuit Federal District Court of Appeals, prior to making any decision as to the re-trial of Crosley Green.
