October 16, 2018 - Seminole Grand Jury Issues 3rd Indictment in Sanford Shooting Death

On Tuesday (Oct 9) the Seminole County Grand Jury issued murder and firearms indictments in connection with the September 8, 2018 shooting death of Derek Williams (24) at "Momma Coots" bar, 1013 Historic Goldboro Blvd. in Sanford, FL.

JUSTIN BUCKNER (23) was indicted for Principle to First Degree Premeditated Murder (LF) and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon (F2), becoming the 3rd defendant in this case along with CARL RUFFIN JR, (23) and ORNIE L. HENDERSON, (25). Because BUCKNER was not in custody, his indictment was sealed until his arrest yesterday (Oct 15) by Sanford Police Department.

A Sanford police officer patrolling near the bar, heard multiple gun shots while several cars were seen speeding from the area. Responding officers then discovered Williams deceased at the scene. A subsequent investigation identified witnesses who observed a fight between the victim Williams and HENDERSON. Minutes later the witnesses identified HENDERSON, RUFFIN JR. and BUCKNER holding firearms and shooting at Williams.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Sanford Police investigator, and seven (7) lay witnesses before issuing the indictments. BUCKNER will remain in custody at the Seminole County Jail on NO BOND. First appearance is scheduled today, October 16, 2018 - 2:00 PM, at the Seminole County Jail.
