- Seminole Grand Jury Issues Indictment in PlayStation Revenge Murder
Today (Dec 11) the Seminole County Grand Jury issued an indictment charging JAKE ADAM BILOTTA (22) with First Degree Premeditated Murder (CF) in the death of Joshua Barnes (24) on November 27, 2018. In a related action, IAN REILLY MCCLURG (21) was charged by prosecutors with Accessory After the Fact to First Degree Murder (F1), Tampering with Physical Evidence (F3), and Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Capital Murder (F1) for his role in the murder.
BILOTTA and MCCLURG planned to lure former roommate Barnes to a residence at 1917 South Boulevard (unincorporated Maitland) to seek revenge for the theft of a PlayStation gaming device earlier that week. Upon entering the house, Barnes was attacked by BILOTTA, but MCCLURG abandoned the plan and did not participate. BILOTTA alone fought with and stabbed Barnes to death. The defendants were arrested after a roommate walked in on BILOTTA and MCCLURG attempting to place Barnes body into plastic bags and called 911.
The Grand Jury reviewed evidence from the investigation and heard testimony from a Seminole County Criminal Investigator before returning with the indictment.
No trial date has been set and both BILOTTA and MCCLURG remain in custody with NO BOND at the Seminole County Jail. Their next scheduled court appearance is arraignment before Judge John Galluzzo, January 15th, 2019 - 1:30 PM, at the Seminole County Criminal Justice Center.
