January 23, 2019 - Anthony Cannone Enters Guilty Plea In 2017 Melbourne Murder of Roommate

Today (Jan 23) Anthony Henry CANNONE (64) entered a guilty plea to Second Degree Murder (LF) in connection to the January 25, 2017 death of his roommate Charles Burke (62) at 411 Rutgers Avenue, Melbourne.

At approximately 2:00 am, CANNONE called 9-11 and told Melbourne Police dispatchers that "I just killed somebody," and "They're in there breathing their last breath." When police arrived they found Burke suffering from multiple stab wounds, but still breathing. He was taken to the hospital but died of his injuries on February 8, 2017. CANNONE, who was initially arrested for Attempted Murder, was formally charged with Second Degree Murder after Burke's death.

Judge Nancy Maloney accepted CANNONE's plea and adjudicated him guilty, before sentencing him to 20 years in the Department of Corrections (credit for 720 days served), followed by Life Probation, and $2163.24 in court and other costs.

CANNONE has been in custody at the Brevard County Jail since his arrest and will now be transfered to the Department of Corrections to begin his sentence.
