February 12, 2019 - Seminole Grand Jury Indicts Grant AMATO in Chuluota Triple Murder

Today (Feb 12) the Seminole County Grand Jury indicted Grant Tiernan AMATO (29) for three (3) counts of First Degree Premeditated Murder in the deaths of his father Chad Amato, (59); mother, Margaret Ann Amato, (61); and brother Cody Amato, (31) at their family home at 2112 Sultan Circle in Chuluota.

On January 25th, 2019 at 9:17 am Seminole County Deputies were conducting a well being check for Cody Amato who failed to arrive for work. They subsequently discovered Cody and his parents inside the home already deceased from gunshot wounds. Establishing that AMATO was not in the residence and his car not at the home, investigators began a search for him. He was located on January 26th and provided conflicting accounts of his actions. Amato admitted that on the evening of the 24th, he had argued with his family about being forced out of the home and his theft of money. Using those statements, evidence from the crime scene, and the results of the autopsy findings, investigators obtained and served AMATO with an arrest warrant for all three murders.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from Seminole County Sheriff's Criminal and Crime Scene Investigators before returning with the indictments. The option to pursue capital punishment in this case is still under review.

AMATO remains in custody at the Seminole County Jail on NO BOND. His next scheduled court appearance is Arraignment on March 26, 2019 at 1:30 PM before Judge Jessica Recksiedler.
