August 19, 2019 Daniel BLAIR Enters Guilty Plea to Murder of Christopher Johnston

On Friday (Aug 16), Daniel Aaron BLAIR (41), entered a plea of guilty to one (1) count of Second Degree Murder (F1), one (1) count of Burglary of a Dwelling (F2), and one (1) count of Robbery (F2), in connection with the death of Christopher Johnston (63), at his Titusville home in March.

As part of the plea agreement, Judge Kelly Jo McKibbon sentenced BLAIR to 40 years in state prison for Murder, and 15 years in prison for both the Burglary and Robbery (served concurrently). BLAIR was remanded into custody and later transfered to the Florida Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.

On April 23, 2019 Blair was indicted by a Brevard Grand Jury for First Degree Murder, Burglary and Robbery. Subsequent negotiations resulted in a plea offer. Prosecutors then met with Johnston family members and law enforcement to obtain their input prior to reaching a resolution. The final agreement represents their desire, and ours, for justice on behalf of Christopher Johnston.

On the morning of March 22, 2019, Brevard County deputies were called to 1800 Kirby Drive in Titusville, where Johnston's deceased body had been discovered. A witness then reported that BLAIR told him he killed someone and was planning to flee the area. Using this information, the investigation revealed that BLAIR entered Johnston's house attempting to rob him, killed Johnston during the attempt, and then stole his truck and other property. At approximately 5:00 pm that same day (Mar 22), Ormond Beach Police arrested BLAIR after he fled in Johnston's truck and subsequently crashed.
