February 27, 2020 - Amber MALTESE Enters Plea in 2015 Murder of Father

Today (Feb 27) Amber MALTESE (42) entered a plea to Second Degree Murder (F1) in connection to the death of her father, Alfred Megathlin (60). Circuit Judge Tesha Ballou adjudicated MALTESE guilty and sentenced her to thirty (30) years in the Department of Corrections, followed by twenty (20) years of supervised probation and mental health treatment as needed. The State dismissed the remaining charges filed against her.

On February 27, 2015, MALTESE had been living with Megathlin at 2334 Golf Lake Circle, Unit 411, Melbourne when an argument between the two ended in MALTESE stabbing Megathlin to death and fleeing the home.

MALTESE was driving erratically on Eau Gallie Boulevard when she came to the attention of Melbourne police officers. She rammed their patrol car with her vehicle and pushed them off the road before leading several law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase down I-95 into Indian River County where she was finally stopped. Melbourne police later found Megathlin deceased in his home.

MALTESE will remain in custody at the Brevard County Jail until she's transferred to the Department of Corrections to begin serving her sentence.
