March 23, 2020 - Operations Update: Lobbies Closed, Limited Hours, Essential Staffing

The Office of the State Attorney in the 18th Judicial Circuit serving Brevard and Seminole Counties is carefully monitoring the rapidly evolving situation regarding COVID-19. To help reduce the spread of the virus we have implemented the following operational changes effective March 23, 2020 and continuing until further notice.

                                Brevard Offices:                (321) 617-7510

                                Seminole Offices:             (407) 665-6000

Business Hours
Our operational hours for general business and communications are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Calls to our offices after 1:00 pm will be answered electronically, with messages returned the following business day.

Essential Staffing
With the postponement of criminal trials and non-essential proceedings in Florida State Courts, our offices are operating with essential staffing only, and utilizing telecommuting whenever possible. We will continue to provide essential services, including assistance to victims and their families, however our response times may be longer than normal.

Reasonable Precautions
While we understand these changes can be difficult, it’s our desire to provide the very best service possible while taking steps to reduce the spread of COVID-19. We encourage everyone to carefully follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines that include:

  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick. If you are sick, stay home and practice “social distancing.”
  • Avoiding gatherings of 10 or more people.
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then discarding the tissue.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces.
