Yesterday (June 1), our office received the Sanford Police Department’s investigative report surrounding the May 5th, 2020 death of Adrian Green. We’ve been asked to review those findings and determine if a criminal offense may have been committed during the incident.

There is no timeline for completion and our office will conduct an exhaustive inquiry into the materials provided by the Sanford Police Department, as well as pursue any investigative leads or information uncovered during that process.

Our long-standing policy is not to offer public comment on open investigations or pending prosecutions. However out of sensitivity to the strong emotional response to this case, we wanted to confirm the process is moving forward in a careful, thoughtful and deliberate manner.
