October 7, 2020 -Brevard Grand Jury Indicts Matthew INKLEBARGER and Leslie CADET for Murder

Yesterday (Oct 6), the Brevard Grand Jury returned indictments charging Matthew INKLEBARGER (42) with First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), and Armed Burglary of a Dwelling (F1PBL), and Petit Theft (M2), and Leslie CADET (33) with First-Degree Felony Murder - Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, and Sale or Delivery of a Controlled Substance (F2), in unrelated incidents.

On August 21, 2020, Cocoa Police investigated the death of James Wallen Jr. (75) at his home located at 1608 Manor Drive. Wallen Jr. had sustained multiple stab wounds, and the death was ruled a homicide by the Brevard County Medical Examiner. After a days long investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for INKLEBARGER who had been linked to the murder by witnesses and forensic evidence.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from the Brevard County Medical Examiner, a Brevard County Sheriff’s Office crime scene investigator and a Cocoa Police detective before returning with the indictment of INKLEBARGER.

On May 20, 2020, Brevard County Sheriff's Deputies investigated the death of Teresa Varsen (52) at her home located at 7 Cove Road, Melbourne Beach. Varsen died of a Fentanyl drug overdose. A months long investigation identified CADET as the person who had the Fentanyl delivered to Varsen, resulting in her death.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from the Brevard County Medical Examiner and a Brevard County Sheriff's Agent before returning with the indictment of CADET.

INKLEBARGER is in federal custody on a violation of conditional release (parole) for a bank robbery, and CADET is in custody on No Bond at the Brevard County Jail. The State Attorney’s Office will work with the US Attorney’s Office to secure custody of INKLEBARGER, who will be held on No Bond once he is returned to the Brevard County Jail. No trial date had been set in either case.
