Late Tuesday (Nov 10), the Brevard County Grand Jury issued murder indictments for three defendants in two separate incidents. The indictments were finalized today after the Veterans Day holiday.

Luis RAMOS FIGUEROA (16) was indicted for First-Degree Felony Murder (CF), Robbery with a Firearm (F1 PBL), and Tampering with Evidence (F3); along with Martaz SUGAR (19) who was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), Robbery with a Firearm (F1 PBL), and Tampering with Evidence (F3). Both men were arrested in connection with the shooting death of Daniel Ramos (19) at the Mission Bay Apartments in Rockledge July 3rd, 2020.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from the Brevard County Medical Examiner, Brevard County Sheriff’s agent, crime scene investigator, and a lay witness before returning with the indictments.

In a second case, Latavious JOHNSON (40) was indicted for First-Degree Premeditated Murder (CF), Attempted First-Degree Premeditated Murder (F1), Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle (F2), Shooting into an Occupied Building (F2), and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon (F2). Johnson had been charged in connection to a shooting incident off University Blvd. Melbourne on October 15th, 2020. Jamie Wright (34), was killed, and her husband Theron Wright (38), was seriously wounded during the incident.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from two Melbourne Police crime scene investigators and a detective before returning with the indictment.

RAMOS FIGUREROA was granted a $600,000 bond after the indictment, while SUGAR, and JOHNSON are being held on No Bond. As of this morning, all three are in custody at the Brevard County Jail, and no trial date has been set in either case.
