January 18, 2021 - Grand Jury Indicts Second Defendant in 2020 Drug Delivery Murder

On Friday (Jan 15), the Seminole County Grand Jury indicted David HARE (52), for First-Degree Murder by Distribution of a Controlled Substance (CF).

On January 22, 2020, an unresponsive Jessica Ackerman (19), was left in a wheelchair at a local hospital for treatment. She later died and the medical examiner identified the cause of death as a fentanyl overdose. A subsequent investigation identified Daniel BACHERT as the person who provided the fentanyl taken by Ackerman causing her death. David HARE was identified as the person who had provided the fentanyl to BACHERT.

BACHERT was previously indicted October 23, 2020.

A No Bond arrest warrant for First Degree Murder by Distribution of a Controlled Substance was issued for HARE on January 6, 2021, by Judge Melissa Soto. HARE was already incarcerated in the Florida Department of Corrections and will now be held for transfer to the Seminole County Jail on a future undisclosed date.

The Grand Jury heard testimony from a Seminole County Sheriff's Office Investigator and a lay witness before returning with their indictment.

No trial date has been set in HARE’s case. Please consult the Seminole Clerk of Court website for the updates on future court appearances by this defendant.
